Diplomats are expected to hammer out revised terms for the Wassenaar Arrangement in private meetings in Vienna this week so that it includes new controls on complex surveillance and hacking software and cryptography. The 41 signatory states include the US, Russia, Japan, France and Germany.
Auf der einen Seite kann das total super sein, wenn endlich der Export von Gamma-Trojanern verboten wird. Aber wenn da steht, Hacking-Software und Kryptographie sollen Exportrestriktionen kriegen, dann sehe ich Szenen vor mir wie dass man nmap und wireshark nicht mehr zum Download anbieten darf, oder dass Tor verboten wird. Hoffentlich wird das nicht so schlimm wie es sich da liest. (Danke, Christian)
